A gentle sense of ease filled me as I stepped back onto campus. Memories of the previous year came rushing back, along with the excitement of immersing myself once again in nature, deep learning and meaningful connection.
Upon arrival, I paused at the Board of Hope. Filled with handwritten notes from guests, it offered a glimpse into the hopes and hearts of those who had passed through before me. Inspired by their words, I continued toward the office, greeted by friendly faces and warm smiles. And so, my journey began.

My quarters were simple: a bed, a desk and a bath. Nothing more was needed. Without a screen on the wall, the natural world outside became my entertainment.
Two hundred and fifty acres waited to be explored. Lush gardens, wooded hiking trails, wildlife and opportunities for connection stretched across the horizon.
Balancing time for learning with opportunities to simply experience the campus became part of the natural rhythm of each day. Morning and evening offerings, from Qi Gong by the lake to meditation at the temple and yoga in the event center, created space to slow down, move and reconnect.
That rhythm carried into the next morning as I awoke to a soft mist resting above the lake and the sun beginning to rise. Through the peaceful, flowing movements of Qi Gong, my mind quieted and my body relaxed.
From the stillness of the lake to the warmth of the dining hall, each part of the day offered its own sense of connection. Fresh, organic food from local farms brought people together morning, noon and night, making meals an opportunity not only for nourishment, but for conversation and community.
My weeklong program, The Joy of Enlightenment, was one of many offerings available at the Omega Institute. Through thoughtful discussions, interactive experiences, meditation and the exploration of new ideas, an unexpected closeness formed within our group, creating connections that far exceeded my expectations.
As the week unfolded, I found myself fully immersed in all that Omega offered. There was time to learn, to move, to experience art and simply to be. Walking past apple and peach trees, listening to birdsong and spending time surrounded by nature, a growing sense of inner tranquility began to emerge.
That sense of belonging extended beyond our small group. Throughout the campus, there seemed to be a common thread drawing people together: kindness, compassion and a shared care for one another, humanity and the natural world.
In many ways, Omega’s vision could be felt all around me. Its belief that our well-being is intertwined with one another and the earth created an environment that encouraged each of us to grow, reflect and awaken the best within ourselves.
Once again, I experienced exactly that.
As I packed my bags to leave, I wished I could stay much longer. Stepping away from the busyness of everyday life had given me space to nurture my mind, body and spirit. Yet as I prepared to leave, I realized I wasn’t leaving the experience behind.
Something within me had changed.
While Omega provided the perfect conditions to slow down, connect and thrive, its greatest gift was discovering that what I found there could extend far beyond my time on campus. I could carry it with me wherever I went.
May we all find ways to nurture our minds, bodies and spirits, wherever our journeys take us.
Namaste,
Yvette
