I was playing Mah Jongg earlier this week (a game I learned at the beginning of this year and have really been enjoying), and one of the other players asked me what POA stands for in the newsletter. We use so many abbreviations, particularly in this age of messaging, that it occurred to me that many may not know. I didn’t know myself until I was reading through our legal documents a few years ago.

When you hear the terms MPOA or Master Board in relation to the Club at Grandezza, they refer to the Master Property Owners Association. According to the Articles of Incorporation, the official name is actually “Grande Oak Master Property Owners Association, Inc.” As you know, each community within Grandezza also has its own board and individual governing documents. All of these documents, along with meeting minutes, financials, and much more, can be found on the grandezzamaster.com website.

It looks like many people are taking one last round of trips before our Florida season begins. I know I mentioned it last month too, but I really enjoy seeing everyone’s pictures and hearing about the many adventures. It can also be a great conversation starter when everyone returns to the community. Speaking of which, we are already starting to see an increase in residents. WELCOME BACK! We missed those of you who were gone over the summer and are very glad you are making your way back to Grandezza.

By the time this article is published, we will also have held our first board meeting, at which time we will review the current financials as well as the budget for next year. I’ll report on that in the next newsletter. As of the end of July, we continued to be on target with our actual income and expenses compared to budget.

Because I’ve been traveling this summer as well, I thought I’d close with one of my favorite pictures from my recent trip to Ireland. What a lovely and welcoming country it is. I’m so glad I went, and I especially enjoyed the nice, cool temperatures in the 50s and 60s. It was a bit of a shock getting back home, where of course it was still in the 90s.

Take care, everyone.
