Master POA Report

By the time this article is published, I’ll have returned from my annual fly-fishing trip. I started fly fishing in the 1990s, alternating between horseback-riding and fishing trips for several years. My late husband took up fly fishing after we married and quickly became more skilled than I was. This year, I may even add a little horseback riding to the trip for old times’ sake. It’s on the schedule, but we’ll see!

The board met at the clubhouse on Thursday, May 28, at 5:00 p.m. for our final meeting until September.

Highlights from the meeting follow:

  • Our financial position remains strong, with expenses running $13k below budget year to date.
  • A major lightning strike at the south maintenance gate caused damage to surveillance cameras, the RFID reader, and other equipment, resulting in unplanned repair expenses.
  • We discussed ongoing challenges with the Access Control Management System. More information will be shared in the coming months.
  • The board received updates on Neighborhood Watch activities and discussed recent issues with unauthorized companies soliciting within the community. Please call the Sheriff’s non-emergency number at 239-477-1000 if you notice suspicious activity.
  • Updates were also provided on landscaping, infrastructure, and communications.

Although monthly board meetings will pause for the summer, work throughout the community will continue.

Construction at the clubhouse is progressing, and those of us here during the off-season are adjusting to the temporary arrangements. The club’s regular social media updates have been especially helpful, since much of the work is hidden behind protective fencing and inside Bogey’s and the pro shop areas. Be sure to check the pictures out if you haven’t already seen them.

Don’t forget to take advantage of the dining and golf reciprocals available. I’ve only visited three other clubs so far, but I’ve really enjoyed each one. Fortunately, I appreciate the scenery, because my golf game still leaves a little to be desired! Here are a couple wildlife photos from my outings.

I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable summer wherever you may be.
