The rain seemed to begin just as the last group of our seasonal residents headed back to their summer homes. With the drought conditions currently affecting our area, here’s hoping we get the needed rainfall in the coming months without getting deluged with severe weather.
The dining and golf reciprocal arrangements went into effect May 1. For those of you remaining here in the summer, be sure to take advantage of the opportunity to bring guests to Grandezza and to visit other participating clubs.
Our April board meeting was held on Thursday, April 23 at 5:00 p.m. in the Clubhouse. In addition to the customary review of our most recent financials, our Treasurer, Mickey Wheeler, also presented information regarding the Association’s 2025 tax return and most recent audit. You may not be aware that we have an internal Audit Committee that reviews the audit materials. The Committee’s review letter was also discussed at the April meeting. The audit was conducted by an external, independent CPA firm.
You may wonder why the Association is required to file a tax return. Our income comes from two primary sources: 1) interest income earned from the CDs in which our cash reserves are periodically invested; and 2) the amortized treatment of our Comcast bonus. Our expenses include property management fees, external accountant fees, and the offsetting amortization of the Comcast bonus.
In addition to the financial items discussed, we received updates on the common landscaped areas and infrastructure projects (most notably the entrance monument fountains, where plumbing upgrades are underway). Two cherry blossom trees were recently planted in the common area between Sabal Palm and Villa Grande and I look forward to watching them grow and bloom in the years ahead. Additionally, we received the latest news from Engage Estero.
Like many full-time residents at Grandezza, I travel occasionally during the off-season months. One of my most recent family trips was to the Smoky Mountains and Dollywood in Tennessee. Although I was somewhat familiar with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, I didn’t realize the reading program now reaches over 3 million children worldwide. As an avid reader myself, I enjoyed learning how many children benefit from receiving these free monthly books.
By the time this newsletter is published, many of the beautiful orchids throughout the community may have lost some of their luster. It has been a pleasure seeing them on so many trees while walking through the communities and playing golf on the golf course. I thought I’d include a photo of one particularly lovely grouping that I recently had the pleasure to see. So many gorgeous colors!
