In April, the GirlFriends once again showcased their beautiful artwork. The art interest group, is led by Carol Ann Levi and meets weekly during season. It’s always such a treat to see their creations.

Jeanne Basso, the founder of Grandezza GirlFriends in 2011, shared the history of how it came to fruition, including our butterfly logo. All past presidents in attendance were recognized and gifted a beautiful rose. It was fun to hear about the very first luncheon with the Estero Firefighters. Surprisingly, one of the GirlFriends still had the autographed calendar all these years later.

We also learned how the traditional bracelet came to be with the help of Jeanne’s husband. The tradition carries on and this month it was given to Susan Pienta. We celebrated the April birthdays of LuAnn Carlson, Phyllis Coll, Rhonda Diner, Robin Lesser, Kathy Lewman, RoseAnne Marcin, Sean Mastrolia, Gladys McCallum, Cynthia Mertz, Ute Nevara, Kathy Rummel and Patricia Stentz.

We were entertained after lunch by the ReCreation Tappers of SWFL. This cheerful, nonprofit group of fun-loving adult dancers brought energy, rhythm and plenty of smiles to the audience. They tapped to timeless music by legends such as Fred Astaire, Irving Berlin and Frank Sinatra.

In conjunction with the lunch, GirlFriends brought along jigsaw puzzles to swap with other puzzle loving friends.
