October was Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Dr. Lea Blackwell, Breast Surgical Oncologist, was the guest speaker. What was surprising was the sheer number of survivors who were in attendance at the luncheon. One big take-away is that if you have dense breasts, it is essential that you request an MRI. It could be a lifesaver.

November marked our Annual Craft Show, one of our best yet. Funds were raised for a local Pancreatic Cancer Organization in honor of Kim Shimota, and another local charity, Laces of Love, that provides shoes for children in need in SWFL. Also, the ladies were entertained by a few talented members of the Gulf Coast Symphony.

In December, our very own and extremely talented, Grandezza Singers sang all our favorite holiday songs. They really are amazing! The Grande Finale, and also a favorite, was “The Night Before Christmas.”

As we held our last luncheon of the year, our President Sandra Renner was recognized for her leadership over the past two years. In January, Nancy Rajtik will take the helm.
