The Grandezza Singers recently wrapped up their 6th Season with their spring concert and fundraiser on March 28th in the Grandezza ballroom. The concert was the culmination of many rehearsals and creative efforts from the group. The repertoire featured classics like “Blue Moon” and “Singin’ in the Rain” to more contemporary hits like “Hallelujah,” “It’s Still Rock and Roll to Me,” and “California Dreamin’.” The large audience enjoyed a special performance by guitarist Paul Huber, who accompanied the choir on several numbers and Peggy and Ben Reckards who danced to “Moondance.” Joining the Singers on John Denver’s “Take Me Home, Country Roads” the audience was especially moved by the “Tribute to the Armed Forces.” All connected to the any branch of the military were asked to stand during the appropriate anthem. The Singers also surprised and delighted the audience with their interpretation of the classic “Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony” as they turned it into a new jazz number, singing in jazz scat.

The Singers raised funds to purchase additional sound equipment and music. They are very grateful to all who attended the performance and bought raffle and fast cash tickets.

Director Dr. Barbara Wischmeier was acknowledged for her leadership and vast musical knowledge. After serving two years as Grandezza Singers’ President, Darlene Polyschuk is stepping down from her position. The Singers extend their heartfelt appreciation to Darlene for all of her efforts to elevate the group to the level it now enjoys.

As the Grandezza Singers look ahead to next season, we are seeking additional members. No audition is required. If you love to sing, come join the Singers for Monday afternoon rehearsals starting in Late-October. The Singers perform two concerts in December and one at the end of March. All are welcome!
